Customer story · Keystation
How we took a UK Magento store from a Lighthouse performance score of 34 to 93 by migrating from Luma to Hyvä and rebuilding the frontend.
The problem
Keystation, a UK car-key and parts retailer, ran on a heavy legacy Luma theme. Its Lighthouse performance score sat at 34, Core Web Vitals were failing on real-user data, and the storefront was slow to load and slow to respond. That drag was costing search rankings and conversions, and every third-party extension added more weight.
What we did
We started with a full performance, platform-health and frontend audit, the same fixed-scope audit we now offer as a standalone service. From the findings we migrated the storefront from Luma to Hyvä, redesigned it on Hyvä for speed and clarity, and rebuilt third-party features as Hyvä-compatible modules where the original extensions were not Hyvä-ready, including search, the mega menu, the vehicle part finder and the store locator. We then engineered performance across the board: image and LCP optimisation, preconnects, caching and cache warming, and tight control of third-party scripts, and brought Core Web Vitals to passing.
The outcome
Keystation now scores 93 for Lighthouse performance with a perfect 100 for SEO. Core Web Vitals pass on real-user data across both mobile and desktop, with an LCP of 1.4s on mobile and 0.9s on desktop. The store is faster for customers and far cheaper to maintain on Hyvä than it was on the old theme.
